During April 2013- March 2014, IRCA has been implementing the Project “I Am Roma I am Albanian Citizen”, funded by the USA Embassy in Tirana,(Commission for Democracy Small Grants Program). In the framework of the project : 50 Roma youth from all over Albania (Tirane, Fier, Durres, Elbasandhe Vlore) enhanced their knowledge and understanding on the right to vote and administration of election process as well as on advocacy and participation in public life. Following the trainings, the group of Roma youth started several advocacy campaign is respective regions writing open letters and recommendations to local and central institutions responsible for education, employment, housing and health care.
About 300 Roma community members from five regions were involved in identifying and prioritizing their needs and got involved in the implementation of advocacy plans. They also got informed by the 50 trained Roma youth, on the right to vote and participation in public life.
