The project “Voices of Change: The Power of the Digital Narrative” aims to counter the negative representation of marginalized communities, particularly Roma and Egyptian groups, in the online media sphere. By promoting ethical journalism and inclusive storytelling, the initiative seeks to enhance the professionalism and accountability of media actors while fostering a balanced and human rights-based digital media environment. The overarching goal is to improve media standards by increasing the technical, editorial, and financial capacities of media actors, ensuring more ethical, gender-sensitive, and inclusive coverage—especially regarding human rights violations and the realities of marginalized communities.
As part of IRCA’s initiative to promote ethical journalism and protect the dignity of marginalized communities, a digital monitoring platform will be developed. This platform will serve as a user-friendly tool for journalists, media professionals, and the public to report fake news, online hate speech, and content that violates human dignity. It will provide a mechanism for transparency and accountability in digital spaces, with a focus on harmful narratives targeting vulnerable groups.
The project is being implemented by Institute of Romani Culture in Albania (IRCA) and is supported by BIRN Albania, in cooperation with SCiDEV and Faktoje Center, and is funded by the European Union.
